From the gate it is another 20 minutes up to the Lodge — a scenic climb through the property. Everything above is to the gate, so add it to your arrival time. These are two-lane mountain roads with switchbacks; after dark, allow more.

Chains price by demand — call direct. Rates move and small properties fill first.
Cell service is limited to nonexistent on the mountain, and GPS gets unreliable once you are in Patrick County. Before you drive up, open Google Maps — or whichever maps app you use — search The Lodge at Primland, and download the offline map for this area. In Google Maps: search the area, tap the name at the bottom, then Download offline map. Do the same for Floyd, Hillsville or Martinsville if you are staying off the mountain, and screenshot your directions as a backup. Once you lose signal, a live route will not reload.
Resort casual for everything — with one exception: dinner requires a jacket. Women are not expected to wear cocktail dresses.
Golf: Collared shirt, slacks or golf shorts. No denim.
Clays and outdoors: Casual layers. It cools off above 3,000 feet after dark.
Plan to bring your own set. If you need rental clubs, confirm availability with the pro shop before you arrive.
