Come for the day. Stay for the fundraiser. Stay on property at Primland if you can — no driving, no logistics, just the mountain. If you’re staying off-site, plan your transportation before you arrive. The roads in and out are winding mountain roads and rideshare is not reliable in this area.
If you are coming in a day early or making a golf trip of it, Olde Mill in Laurel Fork is the local pick — and it solves lodging and a second round at the same time.
Eighteen holes designed by Ellis Maples, open since 1973. Bent-grass greens, bluegrass fairways, water in play and a lot of bunkering. A genuinely good mountain course at a fraction of resort pricing.
Condos overlooking the 18th green, four-bedroom Birdie Lane cottages, cabins and a three-bedroom lodge — most with full kitchens. Built for groups, so a foursome can share a cottage instead of booking four rooms.

The first 20 minutes in and out of Primland are winding mountain roads. After dark and after drinking, they are unforgiving.
If you expect to drink, stay on property or arrange a sober driver in advance. Preplanned transportation can be coordinated — ask the event team.
Uber and Lyft are limited or unavailable in Meadows of Dan, especially late at night. Do not book off-site lodging assuming you can catch a ride at 11 PM.

From the gate it is another 20 minutes up to the Lodge — a scenic climb through the property. Build it into your arrival time.

GPS can be unreliable in the mountains. Follow highway signage once you’re in Patrick County.
Evening dinner: Jacket required.
Golf: Collared shirt, slacks or golf shorts. No denim.
Clays / outdoors: Casual layers. It cools off above 3,000 feet after dark.
Plan to bring your own set. If you need rental clubs, confirm availability with the pro shop before arrival.
Service is limited in the mountains. The resort has WiFi. Coordinate tee times and directions before you leave the lowlands.
The closest full-service option for private aircraft is Blue Ridge Regional Airport (KMTV) in Martinsville — they specifically market themselves as the gateway to Primland. Full-service FBO, fuel, and maintenance on site. From there it’s a scenic ~60-minute drive through the Blue Ridge.
Your drive in on US-58 takes you through the newly widened Lovers Leap — a $300 million, 7.4-mile mountain-moving project that transformed one of the most dramatic stretches of highway in Virginia from two lanes to four. Branch Civil finished the job ahead of schedule, moving more mountain than most people will see in a lifetime. The road you’ll drive on September 21 is brand new. Enjoy it.
